Spacek tops Mods in MHR Rain delayed show!
By Janis Weigel

August 1, 1999; Unity, WI. - Heavy rainstorms cancelled racing action at MHR Friday night. Make-up races were held on Sunday, sponsored by MAC Tools. This Friday night races will be sponsored by WAXX and Dorchester State Bank.

With the lead in the WISSOTA Super Stock Feature, Paul Lieders was followed closely by Mike Bauer. Running ten straight laps after a couple earlier cautions, Mark Stender and Terry Gorst followed the leaders for third and fourth. A caution in the eleventh lap, due to debris on the track had file pack single file for the restart.

Mike Bauer got the quick start, bolting past Lieders for the lead. With the checkered flag waving nine laps later, Lieders made one last effort for the lead going high, but Bauer was able to hold him off grabbing his first feature win this year at MHR. Lieders was 2nd, Stender 3rd, Gorst 4th and Lonnie Leu 5th.

Kevin Adams held the lead in the WISSOTA Street Stock Feature. Kevin Bogdanovic and Mike Paul followed closely behind, never allowing Adams any breathing room throughout the fifteen laps. After a shaky start, with two cautions held in the first three laps, the Street Stocks put on a really good show with solid racing action to the end. With two laps remaining, Bogdanovic pressured Adams for the lead. Racing side by side through corner four to the checkered flag, Bogdanovic was forced to ease up due to a lap car directly in front of him. Taking the win was Adams, Bogdanovic claimed 2nd, Paul 3rd, Rod Herman 4th and Todd Heier in 5th.

Jeff Spacek (#22) scored this evenings feature victory in the WISSOTA Modified class.  Spacek is currently trying to narrow the point gap on point leader Troy Kuyoth.  This victory helped in that effort. 73199g.jpg (19000 bytes)

Jeff Spacek held the lead in the WISSOTA Modified Feature, following were Jerry Weigel, Bill Byholm and Brad Seehafer. With almost non-stop action, Spacek sailed along, gaining a sizeable lead. After several attempts Seehafer moved past Byholm for third with two laps remaining.

Having a great season at MHR, Jeff Spacek took 1st, with Weigel 2nd, Seehafer 3rd, Byholm 4th and Steve Isenberg in 5th.

Mechanics races were held after the features, allowing the guys who work underneath the cars to jump into the cars and show off their skills. Entertaining races were held in each class.
