August 6, 1999; Unity, WI. - Warm, sunny weather brought out a big crowd at MHR Friday night. Racing action was sponsored by WAXX 104.5 and Dorchester State Bank. Shania Finck was the lucky winner of the weekly bike giveaway, sponsored by HARDEES. Next weeks sponsor will be WDEZ 101.9 fm.
Several cautions were held in the WISSOTA Super Stock Feature before a full lap would be completed. #55 Jere Stantons car took the worst beating, with the passenger side appearing to look as if it was tom completely off.
Paul Lieders grabbed the fast lead with a front row start, followed by Terry Gorst, Chad Gullixson, Paul Erikson and Scott Johnson. After a two week absence, Randy Spacek with a strong heat win was forced to pull into the pits with engine troubles.
Erikson closed in on Gullixson, passing for third in the ninth lap. A caution in the tenth lap, would help the drivers behind in traffic with a single file restart. With a ninth row start, hard charging Lonnie Leu was steadily moving toward the front. Still holding the fourth position, Johnson left the track on lap fifteen with what looked to be possible engine failure. Meanwhile, Leu had positioned himself behind Erikson for fourth with two laps remaining. Holding the lead throughout the race and having a great season, Paul Lieders passed the checkered flag for the win. Finishing fourth in last weeks feature, Terry Gorst held his ground in this race, looking impressive taking second. Leu edged past Erikson on the last lap for third, Erikson settled for fourth and Gullixson fifth.
Mike Paul led the WlSSOTA Street Stock Feature, followed by Todd Heier, Chris Lindner, Todd Lindner and Kevin Adams. Moving forward fast, Adams moved up a position each time around the track to take the lead in fourth lap. Running nine laps before a caution would be called. Todd Lindner moving past Claris for third, and followed closely behind Heier waiting for the chance to pass, which would come in the tenth lap.
Ryan Linder moved past his brother Chris for fifth, positioning himself behind his other brother Todd. Holding a solid second position, Mike Paul would end a good run and his night of racing short, pulling into the pits with mechanical failure. Holding a strong lead, Adams grabbed the checkered flag for his ninth feantre win at MHR this season. Todd Lindner 2nd, Heier 3rd, Ryan Lindner 4th and Chris Lindner 5th.
Tim Isenberg held the lead in the WISSOTA Modified Feature. Butch Oertel, Jeff Spacek, Bryan Hessler and A.J. Heuer rounded up the top five. Spacek wasted no time, moving into second and took the lead in the fourth lap. Scott Duval, with a fifth row start, blasted his way through traffic to position himself in third, with Kuyoth following in fourth. Luke Schilling moved past Kuyoth in the ninth lap and would hold him off until the fifteenth lap.
Spacek took a commanding lead, moving quickly into lapped traffic by lap fourteen. Duval, another driver who is having a great race season had moved into second in the ninth lap, weaved his way through lap traffic chasing Spacek. Never easing up, Spacek took his sixth feature win this season at MHR, followed by Duval in second, point leader Kuyoth third, Schilling fourth and Heuer rounding out the top five.
The women had a chance to jump into the drviers cars and show off their racing skills in the Powder Puff races held after the completion of the evenings feature events.
