Three in a row for Spacek in Mods at MHR!
Leiders holds off Leu for Super Stock Win!

By Janis Weigel

August 13, 1999; Unity, WI. - Friday nights races at MHR were sponsored by WDEZ. Don't miss the WISSOTA Late Model action including Super and Street Stocks, this Wednesday - August 18, sponsored by Dale White ( White City Glass ) of Chippewa Falls.

The WISSOTA Super Stock Feature was a well run race, with only a couple of cautions slowing up the twenty lap action.

Scott Johnson held the early lead, followed by Robby Bunkelman, Lance Leu, Paul Lieders and Lonnie Leu. Lieders moved past Leu and pressured Bunkelmam grabbing the second spot in lap seven. Tightening up the pack for the restart after caution in the eighth lap, Lonnie made a fast move, passing Bunkelman for third. With ten laps left, Lieders swiftly moved passed Johnson for the lead, a spot be has become very comfortable with this season at MHR.

Getting past Johnson for second in the eleventh lap, Lonnie closed in behind Lieders. Bunkelman moved into third and Randy Spacek moved up steadily to position himself in fourth with four laps remaining. Lonnie gained momentum closing in on Lieders, but would find no passing groove. Lieders passed the checkered flag for the win, Lonnie Leu in second right behind, Bunkelman was 3rd, Spacek 4th and Lance Leu in 5th.

Steve Surprenant held the early lead in the WISSOTA Street Stock Feature. With a fifth row start Kevin Adams overtook the lead in the third lap. Surprenant, running a strong second ended his night early, pulling his car into the pits after the seventh lap. Chris Lindner overtook the second spot, followed closely by Kevin Bogdanovic. With all drivers running a smooth race, Kevin Adams never looked back, sailing in for the win, Lindner 2nd, Bogdanovic 3rd, Ken Heser 4th and Mike Paul in 5th.

The WISSOTA Modified Feature had some troubles in the early going with cars tangling up in the first lap. Butch Oertel was the man in the lead for the first nine laps. Scott Duval and Jerry Weigel quickly jumped into the second and third position.

Both would move past Oertel in lap ten, with Duval taking over the lead, Steve Isenberg brought out the caution in the eleventh lap, after a collision with Luke Schilling. After a quick stop in the pits, Schilling managed to tag on to the back at the restart. Oertel also headed for the pits with a flat front tire and found himself on the opposite end of the race as he pulled back onto the track. Weigel was forced to vacate his second position, pulling his car into the infield with engine failure.

Jeff Spacek weaved his way through the front runners, getting past Tim Isenberg for second and edging past Duval for the lead with seven laps remaining. Troy Kuyoth moved into fourth, with Jed Moore following for fifth. Moore was hit with a broken oil line, ending his night of racing in lap seventeen. Spacek held off Duval to take the win, Duval was second, Isenberg 3rd, Kuyoth 4th and Brad Seehafer in 5th.
