Schilling scores in MHR Modified action! Leu takes Super Stock main!
By Janis Weigel

July 14, 2000; Unity, WI. - Friday night racing action was sponsored by Old Dutch / Slush
Puppy and Pepsi. Next weeks races will be sponsored by Auto Value Bumper to Bumper.   A
special night for our "younger" fans will be held as prizes will be given out to the "Race Against Drugs"  coloring contest winners and the drivers will be out on the track during intermission for autographs.

With the lead in the WISSOTA Super Stock Feature, Randy Spacek was followed by Scott
Johnson, Paul Lieders, Jere Stanton and Lonnie Leu.  Lonnie was on a mission as he made a quick movein the second lap, passing Stanton with Eric Bolosky in tow.  He then edged his way past Lieders in thefourth lap, securing the third position just before a caution in the next lap was called.

Moving into second, one lap after the restart Leu then began a hard charge on Spacek for the
lead.  Spacek was able to hold off Leu's relentless pressure until lap eleven when Lonnie made a low,
inside pass in corner four to take over the front position.  Paul Lieders was called on a caution after getting tangled up with Scott Johnsonin lap fourteen, moving Bolosky up into fourth and Stanton in fifth. Six final laps of fast paced action was held as Leu took the thrilling win, Spacek second, Johnson third and Stanton and Rich Bishop passing Bolosky to the line for fourth and fifth.

A front row start in the WISSOTA Street Stock Feature, had Kevin Adams grabbing the quick
lead, followed by Jason Kellner, Chris Oertel, Brent Mindock and Rod Herman. Oertel and Mindockclosed in on Kellner, overtaking second and third in lap four. Manuevering his way through traffic, after a fifth row start, Kirk Bogdanovic moved into fourth in the sixth lap, and used the inside groove in corner four to pass Mindock in the next lap for third.   A caution in the ninth lap tightened up the pack, sending a disappointed Mindock to the back. Nonstop action was held to the finish as Adams took the win, Bogdanovic made a last lap pass on Oertel for second, Rod Herman fourth and
Kellner fifth.

David Baxters night ended early after leading the way in the WISSOTA Modified Feature for
two laps, when he drifted high in the backstretch, hitting the wall hard.  Moving into the lead, Luke
Schilling was followed by Lance Burt, Scott Duval, Jack Larson and Jeff Spacek. Duval took over the second position in lap five, and Spacek pressured Burt, passing for third after eleven laps were completed.

A caution tightend up the pack when Marty Schwantes and Bob Sammann were both struck with car
failure in lap thirteen.  Steve Kuester was making his way through traffic to position himself in sixth after a seventh row start, followed by sixth row starter, Steve Isenberg and Jerry Weigel who had an eighth row start.  Schilling had his work cut out for him as Duval and Spacek applied heavy pressure as they made their way around the track nearly three-wide lap after lap. Weigel gained  ground, passing Kuester for sixth in lap seventeen.  A caution on Jack Larson in lap eighteen set up a fast dash to the finish line. Schilling put on a fantastic show as he grabbed his second, hard fought to the finish feature win of the season, Duval took second by a half car length over Spacek, who finished
third, Weigel taking 4th and Kuester in fifth.

The A-Mod Feature had some hard hits in the first lap when Shane Halopka lost control after
getting loose in corner four.  Trying to avoid a collision, Rob Genett got turned around sideways in the frontstretch, skimming the wall and was slammed  hard into the side of his car by Luke Lobacz, followed by Scott Anderson running into Lobacz.   Genett and Lobacz left the track with major damage, Anderson was able to continue. Pat Zdroik held the dominate lead from start to finish, followed by Mickey Nosser in second, Anderson third and Jeff Wilczek in fourth.
