Busy week highlights action at MHR!
By Janis Weigel

August 6, & August 11,  2000; Unity, WI. - The Midwest Sprints made their second appearance at MHR last Sunday night, sponsored by K99 99.3 FM.  Lloyd Dykstra's first career sprint car
feature win came after he lead the entire race and held off the fierce challenge of another Waupun
driver, Andy Glewen. Super Stock driver #57 Paul Lieders finished out a spectacular weekend
winning Friday and Sundays night feature races.  # 40 Kevin Adams held off a late challenge by Kirk
Bogdanovic for the feature win in the Street Stock division.   This Friday nights action was sponsored by  WDEZ 101.9 FM.

Eric Bolosky, Paul Erikson, Lonnie Leu and Eric Olson filled in the top spots in the WISSOTA
Super Stock Feature.  Leu set his sights on the front position and after eight laps took over the lead with a low, hard charging corner one pass.  As Leu widened his lead, fifth row starter, Randy Spacek weaved his way into the fourth and began to challenge Bolosky and Erikson and with
one quick move passed both for second with three laps remaining.  Leu raced past the checkered flag for  the win with a substantial lead, Spacek second, Erikson third, Bolosky dropped back as Jere Stanton finished  in fourth and Paul Lieders took an impressive fifth place finish after a twentieth position start.

In the early going of the WISSOTA Super Stock feature the action was at the front of the pack.  Eric Bolosky (#97) and Paul Erikson (#4) are side by side just before Lonnie Leu (#14) blasted by for the lead and and eventually the win. 81100e.jpg (10657 bytes)

Fifteen laps of caution free racing was held as the WISSOTA Street Stocks put on an excellent
feature race. Brent Mindock held off Kevin Adams for the lead for five laps until Adams used a low corner two dive to take over the front spot.  With a fifth and sixth row start, Chris Oertel and Rod Herman moved through the pack for third and fourth and chased Mindock throughout the fast
paced race.  Adams sailed past the finish line for the win, Mindock escaped a last lap pass attempt by  Oertel for second, Oertel third, Herman fourth and Jason Kellner finishing in fifth.

Better to be winning than wrenching!   Davey Sapiniski drove the #24 car of Butch Kummers in the WISSOTA Super Stock Mechanics race and wound up in victory lane. 81100a.jpg (14396 bytes)

Jack Larson held the lead in the WISSOTA Modified feature, followed by Bob Sammann, Jerry
Weigel, Luke Schilling and Troy Kuyoth.  Kuyoth used the high banked groove to his advantage as he sailed into second with six laps completed.  A caution in the next lap tightened up the pack for the single rowrestart and Kuyoth once again used the outside groove to take over the lead.

Weigel moved past Sammann for third in the eleventh lap and Butch Oertel moved his way through traffic to fall in behind Sammann for fifth after a eighth row starting position.  Larson kept the battle alive with Kuyoth as he continued to race hard using the low line.  B Feature winner, Larry Kallenbach's night ended early when he got into a loose spin in lap thirteen, collecting Luke Schilling with him.   Kallenbach was unable to continue.  Seven laps of nonstop action was held to the finish as Kuyoth continued to hold the lead, now  using the inside groove. Oertel slipped into fourth in lap sixteen and Jed Moore edged out Sammann for fifth with   one lap remaining.  Kuyoth took
the win, Larson second, Weigel third, Oertel fourth and Moore in fifth.

81100d.jpg (10424 bytes) Another fast car this evening was the #16 A-Modified driven by Rob Genett who won his feature event and then handed the wheel over to Scott Genett in the Mechanics race where another trip to victory lane was made.

Shane Halopka didn't get much of an opportunity to race in the A-Mod feature, after his car motor
blew in the first lap.  Rob Genett held the lead with continual pressure from Craig Lieders throughout the race. Genett gave up the lead to Lieders for only one lap as they passed the flagstand in lap five, but retreived the lead the next time around and never looked back to take the win, Lieders  second, Jeff Wilczek third, Brian Rodman fourth and Luke Lobacz in fifth.
