Leu stops Leiders in Super Stock action at MHR!
Duvall scores WISSOTA Mod main win!

May 26, 2000; Unity, WI. - Spectators filled the stands for an action-packed night of racing, sponsored by " Coca-Cola " at MHR.

52600c.jpg (15926 bytes) Scott Duval (#17) became the first WISSOTA Modifed driver to earn more than a single feature victory this season when he took home the checkered in tonight's feature action.  The win was his second of the young season.

The WISSOTA Super Stocks had a rough time getting their 20 lap feature race started, with three cautions held before a lap was completed.  With the lead, Lonnie Leu was followed by Terry Gorst,
Lance Leu, Paul Lieders and Mark Stender.  Pacing themselves behind Gorst, Lance moved into second after four laps, with Lieders moving into third in the sixth lap.   Fast work was needed from the pit crew of  #22 Randy Spacek's car, after his transmission let go in his heat race.

Lonnie Leu (#14) scored his first Super Stock feature victory of the season and with the victory he stopped Paul Leiders win streak at four. 52600a.jpg (12312 bytes)

With a back row start, he had already charged into the tenth position by the sixth lap and would
eventually end the race with seventh place finish.  Cautions in the seventh and eighth laps, due to spinouts proved to be the last stop in this race until the checkered flag was thrown.  Stender took over the fourth position in the eleventh lap, and Bishop moved behind Stender for fifth in lap thirteen.

52600f.jpg (9423 bytes) Super Stocks = Super Action!  Here in heat race action Jim Willner (#77), Ron Sischo (#63), Scott Johnson (#8) and Paul Leiders (#57) challenge each other for position.

Lance fought off constant pressure from Lieders until lap eighteen when Lieders made a low diving move in corner three for second.  With a comfortable lead, Lonnie Leu recorded his first feature win at MHR for the 2000 season, Lieders 2nd, Lance Leu 3rd, Bishop in fourth after a quick move in the last lap passing Stender who finished in fifth.

Kirk Bogdanovic (#82) became the third different feature winner in WISSOTA Street Stock action this year when he took home his first main event checkered of the season here at MHR. 52600b.jpg (12033 bytes)

Kirk Bogdanovic held the lead in the 15 lap WISSOTA Street Stock feature. The only caution in
this race was held when Brent Mindock got loose in the second lap, resulting in Chad Schneider hitting hard into the side of his car. Schneider was not able to continue the race.  Both Chris Oertel and Kevin Adams who had started side by side in the back row, wasted no time moving through
traffic.

Oertel moved quickly into third behind Ken Heser after one lap was completed.  Struck with engine problems earlier in his heat race, Kevin Adams pit crew had his car humming along, as he motored his way past Heser and Oertel for second in the third lap.  Although Adams managed to close the gap between him and the leader, Bogdanovic held a strong lead to take his first feature win, Adams 2nd, Oertel 3rd, Rod Herman 4th and Steve Surprenant 5th.

52600d.jpg (8224 bytes) Wheel to wheel!  Jerry Weigel (#7w) and Troy Kuyoth (#80) test each others driving skills in Modified action.

Scott Duval grabbed the quick lead in the WISSOTA Modified feature followed by Roger Andres,
Daniel Konrardy, Jeff Spacek and Jerry Weigel.  With two laps complete a caution flew when Tim Hintz and Steve Isenberg got tangled up. With a quick tire change, Isenberg was quickly back on the track. At the restart, Weigel made a fast move for second, with Spacek close behind in third.

Robby Bunkelman was struck with engine failure in lap six, ending his night of racing action, after a strong heat win earlier in the evening. After a fifth row start, Troy Kuyoth had made his way into fourth and Steve Kuester was in fifth with a sixth row start.  Duval, Weigel, Spacek, Kuyoth and Kuester ran a  bumper to bumper, action filled race out front. Weigel used the wide, banked high side to his advantage, passing Duval for the lead in lap ten.

52600e.jpg (11177 bytes) They don't always go straight!   Every once in awhile thinks get a little stacked up on the third-mile high banked clay oval.  Here Tim Isenberg sits the wrong direction on the track and Mark Baxter (#22) and Ray Karl Jr. (#61) get stacked up behind him.

A spinout, two laps later, tightened up the pack once again.  Diving low under Weigel on the restart, Duval regained the lead, while Kuester moved past Kuyoth for fourth.  Spacek and Kuester ran the inside groove, side by side, edging under Weigel, who was forced to drift high into the wall, ending his night of racing with a sheared off axle and missing right rear spring, leaving the track in the same lap under a caution after Lance Burts car broke down. With four laps to the finish, Duval grabbed his second feature win of the season, Spacek 2nd, Kuester 3rd, Kuyoth 4th and Luke Schilling in 5th.

With the lead in the twelve lap A-Mod feature, Craig Lieders had his work cut out for him with
constant pressure from Rob Genett throughout the race.  After a near pass in the sixth lap, Genett lost his momentum on Lieders after getting loose for a split second.   That would be all that Lieders needed to pull away and hold on for his first feature win, Genett 2nd, Scott Anderson in 3rd.
