Spacek brothers pace action at
MHR! June 2, 2000; Unity, WI. - Friday night racing action at MHR was sponsored by Mark Mitchell of Mac Tools.
Paul Lieders grabbed the early lead in the WISSOTA Super Stock Feature followed by Scott Geiger, Rich Bishop, Lance Leu and Randy Spacek A caution in the fourth lap was held when contact was made between Bill Schwantes and Lonnie Leu, who got turned around in corner three. As racing resumed, within a span of six laps Bishop, Spacek and Lonnie had positioned themselves behind Lieders and the battle for the lead began. Bishop and Spacek both used the high groove as they drove into corner one, passing Lieders with Bishop in control of the lead, he was able to hold off Spacek's constant pressure for five laps, until Spacek edged past him to take over the lead with four laps remaining. Schwantes had his night of racing action cut short after being called on a second caution in the next lap. Andy Nezworski used the restart to his advantage, as he bolted past Stender and Lieders for fourth. A fast paced race to the end was held, as Spacek held on for his first feature win of the season, Bishop second, Leu third, Nezworski fourth and Lieders in fifth.
A front row start was all that would be needed for Kevin Adams, who controlled the WISSOTA Street Stock Feature from start to finish Friday night at MHR. Rod Herman was struck with a flat tire in lap four, giving up his fifth position. Brent Mindock ran a strong second position for five laps, when smoke began to roll out from underneath the hood, ending his race night early as he headed for the pits. Kirk Bogdanovic moved past Teatz for second after the restart, while Chris Oertel closed in on Teatz. Oertel used a high banked, corner three manuever in the tenth lap, passing Teatz for third. With a substantial lead, Adams cruised past the checkered flag for the win, Bogdanovic second, Oertel third, Teatz fourth and Steve Surprenant in fifth.
Roger Andres held the early lead in the WISSOTA Modified Feature, followed by Tim Isenberg, Jeff Spacek, Jerry Weigel and Scott Duval. As Spacek moved into the lead in the second lap, Weigel and Duval were charging forward, moving into second and third in lap six. Troy Kuyoth made his way through traffic after a sixth row start, to position himself behind Duval one lap later. Duval dove low underneath Weigel in lap nine. As Weigel continued running the outside groove, trying to regain his second position from Duval, Kuyoth tucked in directly behind Duval for third. Spacek, Duval and Kuyoth ran a tight race upfront for four straight laps, before contact was made between Kuyoth and Duval, resulting in Kuyoth spinning toward the infield. Under a lengthy caution, Kuyoth showed his displeasure after an official call pointed him to the back An altercation erupted, forcing Kuyoth to leave the track under a black flag. With seven laps remaining, Hintz edged his way past Weigel for the third position. Spacek held the lead for his first "2000" feature win at MHR, Duval second, Hintz third, Weigel fourth and newcomer Bob Sammann from Winona, finishing in fifth.
Scott Anderson grabbed the quick lead in the A-Mod Feature
with Rob Genett close behind. Amazingly, Shane Halopka made it back out on the
track for the A-Mod Feature after his car burst into flames in the first lap of the A-Mod
heat race when contact was made by Luke Lobacz, whos car made a direct bee-line crashing
into the back wall. Lobacz's car was badly damaged and both drivers were unharmed.
In lap two, Genett used the low inside groove in corner four to pass Anderson for
the lead and continued to put distance between him and the rest of the field throughout Results Super Stock: |
