Kuyoth captures Modified feature at Monster Hall raindate event!
By Chris Burback

June 3, 2001; Unity, WI. - Due to all of the rain in the WISSOTA region, the Monster Hall Raceway sat idle for one week but got back on schedule Sunday night, the automatic raindate for the raceway, after being rained out again on Friday. Mac Tools was the sponsor of the race action.

Chris Oertel (#51) won his second in a row in the WISSOTA Street Stocks after Kevin Adams' transmission let go.

At the drop of the green flag for the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, Paul Erikson got the jump over polesitter Lance Leu from outside row one and led the freight train of 24 cars for the first portion of the race. Behind Erikson, brothers Lance and Lonnie Leu battle ferociously for second with Lance gaining and maintaining the advantage followed by Mike Bauer and Jere Stanton.

A caution for Terry Gorst, whose motor expired in turn two, slowed the field momentarily, and even another caution a few laps later for a mix up in turn four wasn't enough to help anyone to catch Erikson. Erikson went on to cruise to his first feature win of 2001 at the Monster Hall Raceway. Lance Leu crossed the stripe second ahead of Randy Spacek, Stanton and Lonnie Leu, who limped his #14Z machine home with suspension problems.

The WISSOTA Street Stock feature looked to be a Kevin Adams show from the start after he immediately jumped from the second row to the lead and began to pull away. However, gremlins lurked in the blue smoke flowing from the #40 machine. Behind Adams and Rod Herman, who was now in second, there was a fierce five car battle for third raging.
Ken Heser, Brent Mindock, Jason Kellner, Dave Teatz and Chris Oertel swapped positions and paint and ran door to door for several laps. The result was a caution for Heser and Mindock, who locked bumpers on the front chute.

At the drop of the green for the restart, the gremlins lurking under the hood of the #40 machine took over. When Adams got on the gas, the transmission let go and he rapidly fell back.  Jason Kellner took over the lead but was under heavy pressure by Herman and Oertel; however, a caution for Adams, who couldn't get his machine to the pits, slowed the action. At the same time, Herman's #71R machine caught fire in turn four, ending his night as well.

On the final restart Oertel dove to the inside of Kellner and then never looked back as he went on to win the event over Dave Teatz, John Goulden, Kellner and John Becker.

Jeff Spacek and Troy Kuyoth paced the field of WISSOTA Modifieds. As the green waved Kuyoth and Spacek shot from the front row and raced wheel to wheel, but a quick caution slowed the action and an automatic restart was called. Back under green again, Kuyoth and Spacek ran neck and neck until Kuyoth gained a slight advantage on the high side. He pulled out to a three car length lead before the caution flew for a tractor tire that got clipped and brought out on to the raceway.

On the restart, Lance Burt took a ride into the turn one retaining wall and was done for the evening. Another caution waved a few laps later for the track point leader, Tyler Keyser, who suffered a flat right rear tire while running fifth. On the final restart Scott Duval, who was running fourth, bobbled in turn one and lost three positions. With one lap remaining he came to a rest at the top of turns three and four. When the lead pack raced into turns three and four Steve Isenberg, who was running third, suddenly shot to the right. It looked as though he was going to paste Duval but he missed and tagged the retaining wall a ton just behind Duval. Kuyoth claimed his second win of the season ahead of Spacek, Brad Knauf, Jed Moore and Luke Schilling.

The A-Mod feature was next and three time winner Scott Anderson had his work cut out for him after starting from inside the last row. Polesitter Clarence Kolehouse led the field to the green flag and was immediately challenged by Mickey
Nosser. Nosser grabbed the lead and began to distance himself from the pack.

An early caution for Bill Purdy, who made solid contact with Scott Anderson in turn three, slowed the field. On the restart Anderson shot to third behind Genett and Nosser but he was unable to gain ground on Nosser. Nosser again distanced himself from the field to nearly a straight-away lead but another caution waved.

This put Anderson on Nosser's rear bumper. Back under green the lead pack of Nosser, Anderson and Genett pulled away. Suddenly in turn four, Anderson's car suffered terminal problems when the rear end nearly fell from the machine.
Nosser went on to claim the event over Genett, Jim Poyda, Mark May and Clarence Kolehouse.

The Cruiser division's feature was the last slated event of the night and Jared Loos and Josh Olson proved to be the top dogs. Loos and Olson grabbed the lead early and never looked back. Chad Simone and Randy Bargender finished second ahead of Steve Bangart and Scott Davis. Joe Fitzgerald and Louis Plaskey and Brad Mews rounded out the top five.
