Anvelink, Moore Capture Wins at
MHR! May 9, 2003; Unity, WI. - Nick Anvelink and Jed Moore claimed feature wins at Monster Hall Raceway on Friday night, as the only dirt track in Wisconsin to run a complete program was filled to overflowing with over 100 race entries.
Anvelink's late model feature win was his second in a row at the central Wisconsin speedplant, as he closed on and eventually overtook race-long leader Justin Fegers with an inside move in turns 1 and 2. The race was stalled several times for caution flags, including a red flag for a wild rollover by Tim Buhler which also collected three other cars. Another slowdown occurred when Tom Nesbitt tagged an infield marker tire and collected two others. Ron Berna followed the leaders across in third, ahead of Steve Isenberg and Mark Hessler. Jed Moore picked up his first modified feature checkered flag of the season by staying out front of a strong field. Paul Harelstad trailed Moore across the line while leading Steve Isenberg in third, Wayne Engen in fourth and Scott Duval in fifth. Steve Hallquist made his first appearance of the season at MHR count by picking up the super stock feature victory. Kevin Sonnentag claimed second-place honors ahead of Randy Spacek, Mark Stender and Paul Erickson. Todd Lindner also repeated by collecting his second straight street stock feature win. Visitors Dan Gullikson, Cory Crapser and Jim Gullikson were surrounded in the top five by regulars Lindner and Rod Herman. Scott Anderson flexed his muscle in the Midwest modified feature, finishing first ahead of Jack Larson, Jim Poyda, Al Seehafer and Shane Halopka. Jared Loos and Josh Olson finished the night's action by picking up their second straight feature win in two-man cruiser action. Luke and John Rindt crossed the line as runners-up, and Justin and Jordan Lindner staked their claim to third. Action continues on Friday, May 16, at Monster Hall Raceway, located five miles east of Unity on County Road P, then just north on County Road F.
