By Matt Bablick

August 6, 2004; Unity, WI. - WDEZ and Pamida Pharmacy of Abbotsford sponsored this week's racing program at the high banks of the Monster Hall Raceway. Jeff Spacek made his second trip to victory lane in as many weeks in his WISSOTA Modified after starting from the fourth row. Adam Hensel made short work of his fellow WISSOTA Super Stock competitors by leading the entire 20 lap distance. Ryan Lindner capitalized on a front row starting spot by staying out front to collect his first feature win of the season in his WISSOTA Streets Stock. Shane Halopka had the car to beat in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and led every lap on his way to victory lane.

The team of Davis and Miller swept the 2-Man Cruisers this evening at Monster Hall Raceway winning their heat race and the feature.

The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds kicked off the night's feature action with Jerome Kowalski and Shane Halopka on the front row. Halopka used the outside groove to get out front to lead the first lap while Kowalski, Bob Richardson, and Joe Bablick ran nose to tail behind him. Cautions on laps three, five and six slowed the pace and bunched everyone up behind Halopka for the restart. Halopka pulled out front by several car lengths after the restart, while Bablick
maneuvered the outside groove to pass Kowalski and Richardson to take over the second position. Nosser was also on the move as he worked his way through traffic to challenge Bablick at the halfway mark. Nosser chose the low line and ran side by side with Bablick for several laps before completing the pass with four laps to go. Behind them, Richardson held on to fourth ahead of a back and forth battle between Jim Poyda and Rod Ryba. Out front, Halopka stretched his
lead to five car lengths as he passed the checkered flag. Nosser wasn't able to catch Halopka in the closing laps but still finished with a comfortable second place finish. Bablick was the top finishing rookie, after coming from the fourth row to finish third. Richardson challenged for the lead in the early laps and held on for a solid fourth place finish ahead of Ryba and Poyda.

Ryan Lindner shot out front from the pole to take the early lead of the WISSOTA Street Stock feature ahead of a tight battle for second between Paul Lieders, Dave Teatz, Scott Miller and Jared Loos. The man on the move however, was Roger Walker who worked his way from the sixth row to use the high side to pass Loos for fifth. Lindner maintained a car length lead over Lieders while Walker passed both Miller and Teatz to find himself in third behind Lieders with six laps to go. Lieders wasn't able to hold off Walker and fell back to third just ahead of a good battle between Teatz and Miller. Meanwhile, Lindner held on to the lead while Walker ran alongside him on the outside groove. The two cars battled for the lead for several laps until Walker had a rear tire go flat allowing Lindner to pull away and take the win. Walker picked up ten positions after coming from the sixth row to finish second. Lieders had an impressive run, coming across the line third. Miller used a late race pass to get by Teatz for fourth at the line.

Adam Hensel blasted from outside the front row to take control of the WISSOTA Super Stock Feature. Hensel immediately put three car lengths between himself and the second place car of Mark Stender. Terry Gorst worked his way past several cars to get into the third position and begin to chase down Stender. Gorst was able to catch Stender near the halfway mark and completed the pass down low after running side by side for a number of laps. This allowed Hensel to build his lead to nearly a straightaway in the closing laps. Gorst ran all by himself in second while Stender, Jim Willner, Paul Erickson and Randy Spacek had a fierce battle for the third and fourth positions. Erickson came out on top of the struggle, but had mechanical trouble on the last lap which ended a top three run. Hensel was able to run uncontested in the final laps to pick up his Feature win of the season. Gorst scored a heat win earlier in the night and then finished strong with an impressive second place run in the Feature. Willner fought his way from the fifth row to finish third ahead of Stender and Spacek.

Rob Genett and Luke Schilling led the field of WISSOTA Modifieds around to take the green flag. Schilling got the jump at the start of the race and used the high side to get out front and take the early lead. Several early cautions prevented Schilling from getting any kind of rhythm going. Jeff Spacek quickly moved from the fourth row into the second position
after a lap five caution. When the green flag waved, Spacek dove to the inside of Schilling in turn one and came out of turn two with the lead. Schilling battled right back however, pulling to the inside of Spacek. It took several laps, but Spacek eventually began pulling away from Schilling. Meanwhile, Chris Oertel maneuvered his way around Scott Duval and Dan Konrardy but didn't have enough time to chase down Schilling. Spacek found the fastest line around the track and held on to win by a comfortable margin. Schilling came across the line in second just ahead of point leader, Oertel. Duval held off a late race charge from Konrardy to finish fourth.

The final race of the Evening was in the Two-Man Cruiser division. Schubert/Delis shot to the front from the second row to lead the first lap until Davis/Miller used the low groove to take the lead. Davis/Miller quickly drove away from the field and held on for the win. Ron/John Kunninger tried running down the leaders late in the race but ran out of laps and had to settle for second. Schubert/Delis came across the line in third.

Racing resumes at Monster Hall Raceway on Friday Night August, 13th for a regular race program plus the always exciting mechanic's races.
