Submitted by: Chris Bunkelman

June 24, 2005; Unity, WI. -  Monster Hall Raceway held Mid-Season Championships on Friday night. The heat races were lined up according to point standings at the track.  The event drew a couple more new drivers to the track for the first time (Paul Knauff from Marshfield in the WISSOTA Modified division and Justin Truscott from Greenwood,

The night began to cool off but the racing action was heating up fast.  In the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, Shane Halopka Jr. of Medford made it known right away in the heats, that he would be the one to beat. Halopka capped off the night with an impressive win in the feature.  Steve Bangert of Marshfield was a strong second, Frank Soucek third, Rod Ryba fourth and Jim Poyda held on for fifth.

For the second time this month, Luke Schilling claimed the feature win in the WISSOTA Modified event.  Luke Schilling and Jed Moore started up front and battled back and forth until the first caution flag flew. Moore led the field at the restart but got to high in corner one and Schilling took advantage.  Schilling masterfully drove around the track.  Another caution
late in the feature set up once again for an exciting finish.  Moore followed by Scott Duval was now righttight behind Schilling on the restart.  Schilling was determined to get in the winner's circle as he powered around the final three laps to claim another victory.  Jed Moore held on for second followed by the hard charging Scott Duval third, Paul Nixnik fourth and David Baxter fifth.  Three of the four most dominant drivers at Monster Hall Raceway proved it Friday night.  Chris Oertel had a breakdown early in the race.

In the WISSOTA Super Stock feature it looked like Randy Spacek was going to win easily and wait for the rest of the field while sitting in the winner's circle.   Funny how things seem to change after a caution happens.  The caution was due to Justin Truscott and Jim Willner getting tangled up.  Willner was not able to continue on and Spacek led the field once again to the green flag, but was quickly passed by John Feirn of Chippewa Falls followed by Robby Bunkelman and Mark Stendner.  Feirn and Bunkelman raced hard through the last five laps, but Feirn had too much bite coming off the corners.  John Feirn made his way into the winner's circle for the first time ever in his career. Feirn had been racing since sometime in the 90's and finally got his first WISSOTA Super Stock feature win.  Glad it happened at Monster Hall Raceway!

In the WISSOTA Street Stock feature the lapped traffic played a big role in the outcome of the race.  Roger Walker and Jared Loos raced up front the entire event until with about four laps to go, they caught the cars in the back of the field.   Walker and Loos went into corner four door to door, but there was a slower car to get around.  Loos got around but Walker didn't.  Walker had a flat tire and some damage but did manage to finish the race.  Loos held on for the win followed by Rugg Lindner, Cory Crasper, Ralph Stark, and Jared Lindner.

Justine Lindner started out in front and stayed our there for the feature in the WISSOTA Pure Stock event.  Nate Hauge couldn't get enough to get by Lindner and settled for second. Stephen Altergott also tried making the winners circle but came up short at the Mid-Season Championships from Monster Hall Raceway.

Next Friday at Monster Hall Raceway, Stratford Sign will host Senior night in addition to the regular great racing action.  Races start at 7:30pm, just east of Unity.
