Rain cuts short Seymour Tri-Oval race program!

June 27, 1999; Seymour, WI - A big night of racing was cut short by four bouts with rain Sunday at the Seymour Tri Oval Raceway. The rains started during the first IMCA Modified heat race, hit again during the consy, and with a couple laps remaining in the Street Stock feature. As the cars again tried to save the track, the rains came harder, forcing the Wissota Late Model, IMCA Modified and Stock Car features to be canceled

John LeMere led the opening two circuits of the Street feature before Jamie Schmidt took command and pulled away from the pack. By the mid point, Jesse Colwell, Brandon Czarapata, LeMere, Bob White and Darren Otto were in line and trying to run down the leader. With three laps remaining, the caution appeared for a spun car in turn two. During the caution, Schmidt suddenly pulled onto pit lane with a right rear flat, which put Colwell in the top spot followed by Brandon Czarapata, Otto, Jason Czarapata and Jared Siefert.

At the same time the green appeared for the restart, the rains started to fall, but the final laps were completed with Colwell holding off a fierce challenge by the four cars behind to record his first career feature win at the Tri Oval. Otto was able to secure the runner up finish with Brandon Czarapata edging cousin Jason for third place. Siefert took fifth and Steve Baker snuck in to take the sixth place finish.

N.E,W. Dirt would like to thank 81 Motorsports for their generous sponsorship of the program, despite the threatening weather. Several fans won trips and gift certificates and the kids won bikes and passes to several local water and fun parks.

Racing will resume next Sunday night for the big July 4th weekend. Racing starts each week at 6:30. Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway is located on the Outagamie Fairgrounds in Seymour, Wisconsin.
