July 11, 1999; Seymour, WI - The second largest field of cars this season put on an exciting program Sunday night at the Seymour Tri Oval Raceway.
The IMCA Stock Cars ran their feature first with Mike Weitor leading the opening lap before a mishap in the tri-oval changed the lineup. On the restart, Rod Snellenberger pulled into the top spot and set out to hide from the field. John Heinz, Tim Van De Hei, Shawn Wagner and Jerry Wilinski were bunched up for second before the final caution on lap 12 gave them a shot at the leader.

On the restart, Snellenberger again pulled away with the fight remaining for the runner up spot to the finish. Snellenberger claimed his fifth feature win of the year with Van De Hei running to the second place finish. Wilinski grabbed the third spot with Heinz fourth, Joe White fifth and Wagner rounding out the top six.

Terry Casey (#42) scored his first career WISSOTA Late Model feature win at the Tri-Oval. He also earlier posted a win in his heat giving him a sweep of the evening. This win finished off a fine weekend for Casey as he won the feature the night before at Shawano. |
Bill Lemmens took charge of the IMCA Modified main for the opening lap before Joel Schmit pulled by. Following a lap 3 caution, Chris Derenne moved into the runner up spot with Nick Anvelink, Dean Maurer, and Scott Mullen moving up. By the mid point, the top runners were the same with Brian Mullen moving into fifth place. The leaders stayed tight throughout the race with some fine racing.
After a lap 12 caution, Brian Mullen hooked up and pulled into the runner up spot and pulled even with Schmit on lap 15. The pair swapped the lead several times before Mullen took charge and drove to his second feature of the year. Schmit took second with Anvelink taking third. Dean Maurer, Kurt Jordan and Derenne rounded out the top six.
Josh Wirtz led the Street Stock feature until the first caution on lap 5. Bob Bernier took over for the restart and pulled away briefly before Jesse Colwell, the winner of the last two features, took over second and pulled up on the leader. Travis Van Straten, Brandon Czarapata, John Belschner and Jared Siefert dropped in behind at the mid point. A final caution on lap 16 set up a 4 lap dash with Bernier still in charge. On the restart, Czarapata pulled up on the leader and on lap 18 took over the lead. He held off Berniers charge to win his second feature of the year. Bernier took second with Colwell taking third. Van Straten, point leader, Jason Czarapata and Siefert round out the top finishers.
Terry Casey worked into the lead on the first lap of the Wissota Late Model main and despite a couple of cautions, drove fast and steady out front to win his first ever Tri-Oval late model feature. Tom Naeyaert and Troy Springborn each had a chance after cautions, but had nothing for Casey tonight. Springborn took the runner up spot and took over the point lead again this season. Doug Blashe took third with Tim Buhler fourth, Naeyaert fifth and Terry Anvelink sixth.
The Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway will be off this next week, July 18, because of the Outagamie County Fair. Racing will resume on Sunday night, July 25 with all four divisions with racing starting at 6:30. The third mile clay Tri-oval features four divisions of action with WISSOTA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and Street Stocks all competing weekly.
