By Dave Panske

August 29, 1999; Seymour, WI - A cool, fall like evening, was not kind to current track point leaders as several changes in the standings crowned one track champion and will leave the others to be decided this next week at the Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway.

The Street Stock division started the feature program and cautions over the opening 2 laps made for a slow start. Darren Otto settled into the top spot on the restart followed by Brandon Czarapata, Jared Siefert, Chas Van Ooyen, Rich Kyllonen and Jason Czarapata. Siefert worked his way to the front on lap 7 with Brandon Czanapata, Otto and Jason Czarapata tucked behind. Cautions again on laps 14 and 15 bunched the field again with Siefert holding the lead on the final restart. Brandon Czarapata worked his way into the top spot on the next lap land he held off Siefert and cousin Jason to win his fourth feature of the season Otto took fourth place with Mike Czarapata in fifth and Kyllonen in sixth, his best career finish.

The point chase will end this next week with Jason Czarapata holding a 40 point margin over Siefert. which means Czarapata has to enter the program next week to seal his first career Tri-Oval title, 540-500. Brandon Czarapata sits third with 495 with a tie for fourth between Chas Van Ooyen and Travis Van Straten with 467. Darren Otto is fifth with 456.

Tim "The Outlaw" Buhler (#24) earned a heat win this evening in WISSOTA Late Model action.  Buhler current trails Troy Springborn in the current standings by eight points heading into the final weeks of the season. 82999a.jpg (14970 bytes)

The Wissota Late Modets ran their feature flag to flag with Tom Naeyaert slipping from fourth to the lead on the first lap and started to pull away from the field. Terry Casey, Tim Buhler, point leader Troy Springbom and Pete Parker were lined up behind. Parker moved up into the runner up spot on lap 9 and set out to chase down Naeyaert. Parker pulled into the top spot on lap 14 and then never looked back winning his 3rd straight feature and fourth for the season. Naeyaert took the runner up finish with Buhler ending a race long battle with Springborn by taking third, Casey was fifth and Tim Bennett rounded out the top six.

Springborn continues to lead the point standings over Buhler 675 - 667 with the final point night this week. Naeyaert is third with 645, T.M. Miller 4th with 621 and Doug Blashe 5th with 601.

Dennis Young set the pace from the start of the IMCA Modified main with Jerry Scharenbrock, Ryan Schmidt, Joel Schmit, R.M. Van Pay and point leader, Brian Mullen right behind. On lap 5, Scharenbrock spun in traffic in turn 2, and in the scramble, Mullen was involved and was the first car out of the race with a damaged front end.

Young led after the restart, but one lap later, Van Pay was leading the way and by the mid point of the race, Mike Mashl, Brad Rohloff, Young and Scott Mullen were in line. With 5 laps left, Van Pay and Mashl were pulling away a bit in a fierce battle for the top spot. Van Pay was running inside and Mashl the outside. A caution on lap 18 set up a 2 lap dash with the field now right behind the leaders. Scott Mullen, Travis Spaulding, Young and Brian Drexler were in line. Van Pay held off Mashl for his 5th feature win of the season with Mashl taking the runner up spot ahead of Spaulding and Drexler. Scott Mullen was fifth and Dan Deau slipped into the top six on the final lap.

With the runner up finish, Mashl takes over the pint lead by a 519 - 507 margin over Brian Mullen. Van Pay sits third with 477, Scott Mullen and Spaulding make up the top 5 with 474 and 467 respectively.

The IMCA Stock Cars ran their final point night of the season tonight because of the IMCA Nationals schedule next week. Jerry Wilinski entered the night with a 4 point lead over defending champ Joe White.

Jon Wolf took the lead at the start and on the second lap. John Heinz looped his car in front of the pack in turn 2. In the scramble, Wilinski got involved and received severe rear end damage forcing an early end to his night and championship hopes. This opened the door for White, but Rod Snellenberger was lurking 7 marks back.

The green appeared for the restart and the race ran to the finish. Wolf maintained the top spot with Snellenberger moving into the runner up spot. T.J. White, Benji LaCrosse, Dan Sell and Tim Van De Hei were packed behind.

Wolf was hugging the inside line and Snellenberger tried every move to get by. He could pull even in the turns but Wolf was stronger out to hold the top spot. Shawn Wagner, LaCrosse, Van De Hei and T.J. White made the front pack interesting.

Wolf held on to win his first feature of the season holding off the charging Snellenberger. White slipped into the third place finish with Wagner in fourth. LaCrosse ran to his best finish in his rookie season taking fifth with Dave Bouche nipping Van De Hei for the sixth place finish.

In the point race, with Wilinski out, Snellenbergers runner up finish gave him a season total of 516. Joe White was caught in traffic the entire race and managed a 10th place finish and a point total of 514. It is Snellenbergers second title here at the Tri-Oval and ends Whites 2 year reign as champion. Wilinski finishes the season in third place with 511 points with Van De Hei fourth with 488 and rookie, Shawn Wagner fifth with 470.
