Rohloff and White edge out rain at Seymour!

June 13, 1999; Seymour, WI - After several days of rain, the weather finally cleared up by mid- afternoon giving hopes of a fast track and nice night for racing action at the Seymour Tri Oval Raceway Sunday. However, as the features started, the clouds again blew in and the IMCA Stock Car and IMCA Modified were completed before the rains came washing out the Street Stock and Wissota Late Model action for the night.

61399a.jpg (17480 bytes) Brad Rohloff (#03) became the first double winner in the IMCA Modifieds this season at Seymour Tri-Oval as he won the rain shortened main event on Sunday night for his second victory of 1999.

Dave Bouche led the Stock Car main through the first half before Joe Whiter took over following a restart on lap 11. Tim Van De Hei, Shawn Wagner and Bouche pressured the defending champion to the finish but White was able to hold on to win his first feature of the season. Van De Hei took the close runner-up finish with Wagner taking third place. Sean Jerovetz, point leader, Jerry Wilinski and Chad Bartelt rounded out the top six.

Joel Schmit set the pace in the Modified main for 2 laps before Dennis Young took command. Schmit stalled on lap 6 bringing out the caution and a four car mishap on the restart kept the field slowed. On the restart, Brad Rohloff powered into the top spot bringing Brian Mullen, Mike Wedelstadt and R.M Van Pay along to the front. Van Pay, having made the main through the consy, started near the back, but pulled into he runner-up spot on lap 10 and was challenging Rohloff for the lead when the car stalled with engine problems in turn one on lap 16, just as the rains began to fall. The race was called complete with Rohfoff becoming the first repeat modified winner this season. Mullen was credited with the runner-up finish with Wedelstadt third and Doug Mahlik, in his first night back at the tri oval, taking fourth. Scott Mullen and Luke Roffers made up the top six.

Bob Vanden Avond (#87) had his chance to visit victory lane at the Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway when he won his heat race in the Street Stock division 61399b.jpg (16097 bytes)
