Seymor Tri-Oval Raceway to drop the green next week!
April 18, 1999; Seymour, WI - The Seymour Tri Oval Raceway will kick their 1999 racing season into gear, this Sunday, April 25, with racing in the four division programs getting underway at 6:30.
Returning to the unique 1/3 mile clay tri oval will be the IMCA Modifieds, WISSOTA Late Models, Street Stocks and IMCA Stock Cars.
R.M. Van Pay of Green Bay will return to defend his 1998 modified track championship. He finished the year with 8 feature wins here on his way to his second straight and third division title overall at the tri-oval. In his career, he has run to 42 features here at Seymour. He has a career total 96 in just this division. He also has 6 late model feature wins to his credit.
Pete Parker was also crowned a second straight WISSOTA Late Model champion last year. He won 14 division features here last year on his way to his 6th N.E.W. DIRT title. In his career, Parker has accumulated 92 features in just this division, along with one modified feature win in the 1997 Budweiser Nationals.
The 1999 Street Stock title chase will be wide open this year, as defending champion, Shawn Wagner, will be making the step up to the IMCA Stuck Car division this year. Shawn ran to a division leading 4 features and has a career total of 6 wins, to move him into the top 10 on the all time win list. The title was him first track championship
Joe White used a strong performance all season to run to 4 features on his way to capturing his second straight IMCA Stock Car division title. It was also his third title in the division here. He is now the division leader in career feature wins with 17.
All our champions will be faced with some of the toughest competition in Northeastern Wisconsin in all four divisions. It will not be easy for any of them to add another Tri Oval title to their resume. Wagner would like to add the stock rookie of the year title to his list of career highlights as well.
It has also been announced that there will be a general admission increase for the regular Sunday night racing programs. Adult admission will increase from $8.00 to $9.00 for the upcoming season. Other prices will remain unchanged.
N.E.W. DIRT is entering their 16th year of operating thc Seymour Tri Oval Raceway and will be presenting the same fast paced, exciting racing programs that fans and drivers have come to expect every Sunday night.
The season runs through Sunday night, September 5th with races every week but July 18. There will be no racing that night because of the fair. The season will end with the 3rd annual Budweiser Nationals on Saturday night, September 25th. and Sunday September 26 will be the rain date if needed.
