Parker claims 100th
career victory at Seymour Tri-Oval! June 11, 2000; Seymour, WI - What started out as a nice day, turned sour close to race time with a strong north west wind that chilled everything Sunday night at the Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway.
The IMCA Modifieds started the feature programs on Gold Star Racing Supplies night with a couple tries before a lap could be recorded. Jared Siefert finally took the lead and set the pace through the first five laps, and numerous cautions. On lap 6, Brian Mullen took the inside route to take over the top spot from Siefert and brought Mike Mashl along into second. The race was half over when the time limit expired during another caution which forced a green, white, checker situation. As Mullen brought the field around for the white, the caution flew again, ending the marathon, and giving Mullen his second straight division feature win here. Mashl was recorded in second with R.M. Van Pay taking third. Travis Spaulding took fourth with Jamie Schmidt and Dennis Young rounding out the top six. Pete Parker jumped from the front row in the WISSOTA Late Model contest and proceeded to walk away from the field leaving the battle for the second spot to put on the race. Tom Naeyaert and Terry Casey battled throughout the race swapping positions several times. Terry Anvelink and then Troy Springborn were also part of the action at different times Naeyaet finally secured the runner up spot with five laps left, leaving Casey to decide third with Springborn. Springborn was also able to wrestle third from Casey with a couple laps remaining. Parker cruised to his milestone 100 career late model feature win here at Seymour and received an plaque from N.E.W. Bernier moved into the runner up spot on lap 7 with Arnoldussen and Arneson following. The first caution of the race appeared on lap 12 for a spin and erased Van Straten's lead. However, on the restart, Van Straten suddenly pulled to the infield and out of the race turning the lead over to Ameson, after Bernier was spun in the tri oval. A couple more cautions kept the pack tight, and set up a five lap dash to the finish. Arneson set the pace on the restart, and Chaz Van Ooyen moved into the runner up spot. Van Ooyen tucked to the inside and made his move into the top spot. Van Ooyen collected his first career Tri Oval feature win with Arneson taking second followed by Jamie Colwell, Brandon Czarapata, Marcille and David Hoerning. After swapping second place for several laps, Van De Hei settled into the spot with 4 laps left when Czarapata suffered a flat tire.
