Action set to resume at Seymour Tri-Oval!

July 12, 2001; Seymour, WI - N.E.W. DIRT is getting ready to resume racing this Sunday night, July 22 at the Seymour Tri Oval Raceway following a week off due to the county fair.

Former Modified three time title holder, R.M. Van Pay holds onto a slim 2 point margin taking over the point lead after the last race here. He took the leader after his 50th career feature win at the tri oval. Scott Mullen, has lead the points most of the season sits in second place ahead of defending champion and brother, Brian Mullen, who has three feature wins so far this season. Jared Siefert and Brad Rohloff round out the top five drivers.

The Wissota Late Model division is led by two time defending champion Troy Springborn of Shawano. Springborn picked up his second Tri Oval feature win at the last race and holds a 286 – 264 point margin over Dean Maurer. Close behind in former 6 time title holder, Pete Parker with 263. Terry Casey sits with 261 and Tim Buhler rounds out the top five with 250.

The Greenleaf connection holds down the top three posts in the Street Stock division. Brothers, Jamie and Jesse Colwell take up the first two spots with 216 and 206 respectively. Jeff Treml is third with 198. The trio has also won all the features this season with Jamie taking three, Jesse and Jeff each have one.

Dean Kellner sits in fourth place with 185. Lance Arneson and Charlie Van Ooyen are tied for fifth place with 183.

Jeremy Christians leads the way in the IMCA Stock Car division with three feature wins to hold a 209 – 198 point lead over Benji LaCrosse. Last seasons Rookie of the year, Jason Czarapata is in third place with 192. Defending champion, Tim Van De Hei is fourth with 190 and Jerry Wilinski is fifth win 187.

Van De Hei is the only other feature winner so far this season.

There are 10 races left on the 2001 schedule for the tri oval.

The Hit the Jackpot series final will be held here on Sunday night, August 26. Following the excellent first round race on July 1st, the finale should not be missed. The season continues through September with regular races on the 2nd, 9th and 16th. The Potawatomi Nationals will close out the season on Saturday night September 22nd. The following day, Sunday, September 23rd will be used for a rain date if needed.

Despite a tough start to the season this year, the racing has been close and very competitive.

The grandstand opens at 5 PM on Sunday nights with the four division racing program starting at 6:30.
