July 22, 2001; Seymour, WI - Racing resumed at the Seymour Tri Oval Raceway following a week off for the county fair. An early afternoon rain shower knocked out the hot, humid weather for a beautiful night for racing action. The track was smooth and fast with only a couple cautions slowing the feature action.
The Modifieds were first up with Jerry Muenster taking charge from the start. Muenster was running the high, outside line to perfection while Brad Rohloff moved up from the field to challenge on lap 6. Rohloff, also using the outside line decided to try the low side and it worked, to take over the lead after several back and forth laps, on lap 11. Once in front, Rohloff again pulled wide and was not pressured the rest of the way. Muenster had his hands full holding the runner up spot. Mike Wedelstadt moved up and finally took over second on lap 14. He closed the gap on Rohloff, but ran out of laps to mount a serious challenge, finishing a close second. Brian Mullen moved up and ran Muenster hard, moving into third with just three laps left, to finish third. Muenster held off point leader, R.M. Van Pay, to finish in the top four. Chris Derenne was sixth in the non stop event. Jim Rychtik led the opening lap of the Late Model main before Terry Anvelink took over for the next 2 circuits. Point leader, Troy Springborn moved into the top spot on lap 4 and then checked out on the field to record his second straight feature win and his third for the season here. Tom Naeyaert was the fastest of the field, closing on Anvelink in the early going, before a brush with a lapped car on lap 14 caught him and Terry Casey, with Casey slipping by into third. Naeyaert held the fourth spot to the finish. Dean Maurer held off Pete Parker for fifth. Mike Weitor set the pace in the early laps of the Stock Car main with Brandon Czarapata moving into the top spot on lap 4. Once in front, Czarapata pulled away a bit while the rest of the field battle for position. Point leader, Jeremy Christians, moved into the runner up spot on lap 7, and chased down the leader. Christians caught Czarapata on lap 12 and then pulled outside. The lead duo ran door to door for the next 6 laps before Christians was able to pull ahead with 2 laps remaining to claim his fourth feature win of the season. Czarapata was right behind in the runner up spot. Cousin, Jason Czarapata, came through a tight pack of five cars to finish in the third spot. Jon Wolf was fourth, Tim Van De Hei fifth with Jerry Wilinski rounding out the top six, as the race went non stop for the 4th time this season. Bob White,Jr started the Street Stock feature on the front row and pulled into the lead at the start. He held the lead through the races two cautions, on laps 2 and 11, running a smooth line and maintaining a slight lead. Lance Arneson chased White for most of the way while the point leaders made their way to the front from the middle of the field. Point leader, Jamie Colwell, led the way from the pack with Jeff Treml, Dean Kellner, Marc Marcille and Jesse Colwell behind. With 5 laps left, Arneson had his hands full as Jamie Colwell and Treml challenged for the spot making a three wide run with Treml coming away in second and Colwell in third. The pair closed on the leader and with the white flag in the air, Treml moved inside of the leader and took the lead down the back chute. Out of the tri oval, the right front tire went flat on Whites car, pushing him to the wall. Colwell and Arneson were able to slip by before White crossed the line in fourth. Marcille was fifth with Jesse Colwell rounding out the top six. Racing continues now through September at the unique 1/3 mile tri oval. Racing at 6:30 every Sunday night.
