June 21, 2001; Seymour, WI - With the second leg of the Forest County Potawatomi Community Hit The Jackpot Series coming to the Seymour Tri-oval Raceway on Sunday night, July 1st, a larger number of starting spots will be available for drivers to make the main event. For events at Seymour 22 cars will now start the night's 30-lap feature race. The Langlade County Speedway in Antigo, which hosts round three of the series on Friday night, July 6th, and the Shawano Speedway will both see the feature starting spots increased from 20 to 24 cars. "The drivers wanted it and the fans wanted it so it was decided to start more cars in the feature event," said Bob Schafer, spokesman for the Hit The Jackpot Series. "Seymour was a little too tight to go with the 24 starters so 22 was the number there. We have basically taken and raised the payoff for the drivers because of the extra cars. It's a good deal for the fans and the drivers, both." A field of 20 cars took the green flag in the opening Hit The Jackpot Series event at the Shawano Speedway in May. Duane Mahder took the win and currently leads the standings heading into the Seymour program. "There were quite a few good race cars left sitting by the trailer at Shawano because they couldn't make the main," Schafer went on to say. "I think that this will help boost the car count up even more. There are more spots to be filled for the feature. That will definitely help." The second and third races of the series will be bookend events to the WISSOTA Challenge Series invasion of eastern Wisconsin. Bringing the two series together over the course of six nights has generated a large amount of interest among drivers. "There are going to be some real good race cars for the shows on that side of the state," said WISSOTA Challenge Series Director Chris Stepan. "The Challenge Series has been drawing some real good car counts despite the weather. I really like the idea of the Hit The Jackpot Series running dates around us. The guys now have more reason to travel." Based on posted prize money one driver could win as much as $12,000 over the course of six nights. By starting every feature event a driver is guaranteed at least $1,300. The Seymour Tri-oval Raceway is located on Highway 55 on the north side of town at the Outagamie County Fairgrounds. Racing action is slated to begin at 6:30 pm with IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars, and street stocks also on the card. The Langlade County Speedway is located at the fairgrounds on the north side of Antigo just off of Highway 45. IMCA modifieds, WISSOTA street stocks, and ASCI trucks are part of the July 6th program.
