April 6, 2001; Seymour, WI - The WISSOTA late model division at Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway recently received a huge boost when the Forest County Potawatomi Nation announced their involvement in a pair of dates at the uniquely-shaped third-mile, clay tri-oval located off highway 54 at the Outagamie County Fairgrounds. The Hit The Jackpot late model series will be contested over eight nights at four WISSOTA-sanctioned tracks in eastern Wisconsin. Each show on the tour will pay a minimum $2,000-to-win and $350 to start each event. Any driver failing to make a feature race will take home $100. Seymour will host the series on Sunday nights May 26th and August 26th, respectively. "This is something that this track has needed for a long time," said NEW DIRT Vice President Bob Zegers. "As a club we can't afford to pay out a significant late model payout. But with the help of the Potawatomi Nation we'll be able to do so. Our late model car counts could double during those shows." As a bonus, all other divisions that run at the respective tracks during the Hit The Jackpot series nights will also run for increased money, too. At Seymour that includes the IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars and street stocks. Other tracks involved in the Hit The Jackpot series include Langlade County Speedway (Antigo), Shawano Speedway and Sunnyview Speedzone in Oshkosh. There will be no entry fee for the series. All WISSOTA late model rules will be followed. Line-ups for each event will be done via the draw-redraw system as outlined in the sanctioning group's 2001 rulebook. Starting times for each program will coincide with the track's regular times. At Seymour, that time is 6:30 p.m every Sunday night. The Forest County Potawatomi Nation is home to Northern Lights Casino, Potawatomi Bingo, and the Indian Springs Lodge, all in Carter, WI. Each facility offers a unique experience from gaming to lodging. Seymour Tri-Oval's season opening race is Sunday night, May 6. An open practice session is slated to take place on Sunday, April 29 from noon to five p.m. Pits open that day at 11 a.m. Drivers do not need to be a member of NEW DIRT to partake in the practice session, which is open to any and all divisions.
