April 25, 2001; Seymour, WI - NEW DIRT officials announced today that the open practice scheduled at Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway for Sunday, April 29 has been cancelled due to wet grounds. A make up practice will not be scheduled at this time prior to the season opener. "Right now the track itself is just too wet to even attempt a practice session," said NEW DIRT vice president Bob Zegers. "What we need is a string of dry, sunny days with a lot of wind to dry the track surface out. We've got it opened up now. With Mother Nature's cooperation, we can possibly open in another week or so. But we'll need her help." During the off season more than 200 loads of stone-free clay was added to the track surface. The season opener is still tentatively scheduled for Sunday night, May 6 for Green Bay
Motorsports Night beginning at 6:30 p.m. WISSOTA late models, IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock
cars and street stocks will compete weekly at the third-mile clay tri-oval, located on
state highway 55 at the Outagamie County Fairgrounds in Seymour. |
