Matt Budzis (#13) scored his first feature of the year in 4 Banger action.

The Modifieds were first up with R.M. Van Pay grabbing the lead from the point followed by Russ Huxford, Joel Schmit, Lance Arneson, Todd Dart, Brian Drexler and Jay Schraufnagel. Schmit moved into second and Schraufnagel quickly pulled into third by lap 4, and the top three broke away from the field. The battle for 4th stayed very close between Arneson, Drexler, Dart, Huxford and Dennis Young.

The top 3 put on a good show at the front with Van Pay holding the inside line with Schraufnagel and Schmit running side by side most of the time right behind. Dart moved by Arneson on lap 13 with Drexler, Young, Scott Lewis and Scott Mullen moving up before a debris caution on lap 16 slowed the pace for the first time.

Van Pay continued to set the pace on the restart with Schraufnagel taking over second. Dart moved into third with Young now behind Schmit in fifth with Drexler and Mullen behind. A tri oval spin brought out the final caution on lap 19 setting up a six lap dash to the finish.

Dart slipped by on the restart to take over the runner up spot with Young following right behind and the pair hounded Van Pay to the finish but Van Pay picked up his second Shootout feature win. Drat held off Young for the second place finish with Drexler, in his first run in a couple seasons here, taking fourth. Schraufnagel was fifth and Mullen rounded out the top six.

A.J. Diemel beat Gregg Haney into the top spot as the Late Models took the track for the main event. Terry Casey quickly pulled into the runner up spot before the first lap was scored and moved right behind Diemel. The rest of the field quickly spred out with Pete Parker moving into third followed by Nick Anvelink, Terry Anvelink, Troy Springborn and Randy Markwardt.

Casey hounded the rookie leader for the first half of the 25 lapper, but could not shake an opening. Diemel was finally able to gain a couple car length lead in the flag to flag race and drove off to his third feature win of the season here and his first Shootout feature win. Casey was second followed by Parker, Springborn,, Markwardt, and Ron Bomber.

Adam Clark set the pace for the opening laps of the Stock Car main followed by Troy DeGrave, Jerry Wilinski, Rod Snellenberger, Chaz Van Ooyen and Kyle Fredrick. Clark continued to lead through two race cautions in the first 7 laps, and was still the leader for the final restart on lap 8 when the action really heated up. Van Ooyen, Wilinski,, Larry Karcz, Jr, Snellenberger and Dave Bouche were right behind when the final green flew. Fredrick hooked up and pulled into the lead for one lap before Wilinski found a gap and moved into the lead on lap 10. Fredrick had to contend with Snellenberger, Karcz and DeGrave which allowed Wilinski to open up a lead over the final 10 laps and drive off with his first ever Shootout feature win and his second feature in a row at his hometown track. Fredrick ended up in second closely followed by Snellenberger, Karcz, DeGrave and Brian Bruechert.

A caution on the first start set the stage for a caution filled , Time lit Street Stock feature. Five cautions in the first 4 laps shuffled the lineups. David Hoerning led the firs t3 laps before 2002 track champion, Mike Coel pulled into the top spot after the lap 4 restart and led for a 10 lap green flag period. Lance Arneson pulled into the runner-up spot on lap 5 followed by Troy Wilson, Chaz Van Ooyen, T.J. White and Marc Marcille. The leaders stayed tight throughout with Coel maintaining the top spot until a final caution on lap 15 set up a two lap dash to the shortened finish.

Arneson was able to get by for the lead as the pack came out of the tri oval for the white flag. Coel, Wilson, Dale Averkamp, Van Ooyen, Marcille and Tom White were bunched up behind. Arneson was able to hold on during the final lap to pick up his second feature win of the season and first ever Shootout win. Wilson came through a final turn mix up to hold onto the runner up spot followed by Van Ooyen, White, Brian Koch, and Marcille.

Keith Wilcox set the pace for the first three laps of the 4 Banger nightcap before Matt Budzis moved outside into the top spot. Once in front, Budzis navigated the

Rest of the way through traffic to become the 11th different division feature

Of the year and the first Shootout division feature winner. Mike Kempka moved into second on lap 15 and took the runner up finish with Tony Everard taking third.

This was the final race of the 2002 season and N.E.W. Dirt would like to THANK all of the fans, drivers, crews and sponsors for their loyal support throughout the past season. 2003 will bring the 20th Anniversary season for the club running the weekly racing program at the Seymour Tri Oval.
