Doxtator takes club president’s post
at Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway!

By Dave Panske

February 22, 2003; Seymour, WI - Vern Doxtator is the new president of N.E.W. Dirt, Inc., the club that handles operation of the Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway.

Along with the new title, the Seymour businessman will take on many of the promotional chores at the 1/3 mile clay facility. Both the I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modified and Stock Car divisions return to the program there in 2003.

A self-described “Stock Car enthusiast from the age of five on,” Doxtator raced in the hobby stock class at Seymour and at Shawano for one season in the early 1980s. He later bought the banquet hall in Seymour and was asked two years ago to do concessions at the Tri-Oval.

“I see a lot of this job as being a coordinator and making sure everybody is on the right track,” Doxtator said. “The club is focusing on our customers, the fans in the grandstand and the drivers in the pits, and trying to make this a more family-friendly place.”

Club members meet on the first Monday of the month. The board, which includes officers and representatives from each of the five classes that race at Seymour, convenes on the last Monday of the month.

The secretary is Yvonne Panske and treasurer is Randy Wietor. A new vice president will be named next month.

Some 15 feet has been taken off the inside curve of the Tri-Oval in preparation for the upcoming season, rounding out the track and hopefully creating another lane for competitive racing in all divisions.

Regular Sunday night shows start May 4 at Seymour and continue through August.

“We are looking at having several special races and hope to nail down dates for a couple of them at our next meeting,” Doxtator said.
